HOMEBUYER’S TAX CREDIT EXTENDED!


First time buyers eligible for $8,000 for married couples and $4,000 for those filing separately.

Current homeowners who have consecutively maintained the home they want to sell aas their primary residence for 5  of the last 8 years are also eligible. However, the maximum amount for those homeowners is lower ($6,500 for married couples and $3,200 for separate filers).

Tax credit may not be used to purchase home for more that $800,000

Income limits for both tax credits have been raised to $125,000 for single buyers and $225,000 for married couples.

Expiration date for credit is April 30, 2010.

Detour For I-40 Rock Slide In NC


 A beautiful detour for Interstate 40 East is to get off Exit 435 in Newport TN and this highway will take you to Cosby, TN, Gatlinburg, TN and Cherokee NC.  This is a beautiful drive. There are several restaurants, Walmart & Lowes off this exit.

THERE IS A VERY SCENIC ROUTE THAT CAN DETOUR YOU OFF I-40 IN NEWPORT IF YOU ARE HEADING TO NORTH CAROLINA. THE ROCK SLIDE ON INTERSTATE 40 WILL TAKE UNTIL AROUND  FEB. 2010 TO BE CLEANED UP.  YOU CAN GET OFF EXIT 432 B  AND TAKE HWY 25/70 EAST.  THIS WILL TAKE YOU THROUGH SOME BEAUTIFUL AREAS OF COCKE COUNTY. YOU WILL FOLLOW THE FRENCH BROAD RIVER THEN GO INTO HOT SPRINGS NC. THE MOUNTAINS ARE BEAUTIFUL. THIS WAY WILL TAKE APPX. 1 HOUR 20 MINUTES AND COVER APPX. 66 MILES.  THERE IS A BRIDGE WITH WEIGHT LIMIT OF 10 TON ON THIS ROUTE.

THE ROUTE GOING UP I-81 IS ALMOST DOUBLE THE MILEAGE OF HWY 25/70 ROUTE.
